Laboratory Simulation of Impact Loading on Laminated Glass for Ice Hockey Arenas

چکیده

G lass is used in a variety of configurations in the construction, automobile, and locomotive industries. In ice hockey arenas, glass is typically used as a shield to protect spectators. In this particular application, glass is subjected to the impact of pucks flying at very high velocities, as high as 53 mis, and these velocities may even increase due to advancements in the techniques of the game and the developments of composite sticks with superior qualities. As such, glass shields are becoming increasingly vulnerable to shattering in a very brittle manner.
